The value of anything can simply be described as the price at which a buyer and a seller can agree to. The same goes for collectibles.

Except with collectibles, there are many factors that buyers and sellers take into account to get to that price. The three main factors can be boiled down to: rarity, condition and significance.

With that being said, which collectibles would have the highest value? Here are just some examples of high valued collectibles and what made them so highly valued.

Sports Memorabilia

Sports memorabilia, from baseball cards to used sports equipment from famous athletes, are probably what pops into your head when you think about valuable collectibles. This is because the fanfare around sports creates occasional memorabilia linked to momentous occasions. Combine momentous occasions with a piece of that event and keep that item well-preserved, and you have the makings of a very valuable sports collectible. A baseball card of Babe Ruth may be valuable if it’s in pristine condition since not many of those exist. However, the bat that Babe Ruth used to hit his first home run, kept in pristine condition, is extremely valuable, because there is only one and it was a momentous event.

Pop Culture Memorabilia

Like sports, pop culture also creates fanfare around specific events. And when there is rare memorabilia from those events that’s kept in pristine condition, you also have the makings for a very valuable collectible. Take for instance the first copy of the Beatles White Album selling for $790,000. We’d say that’s valuable! Valuable collectibles can be derived from a number of pop culture phenomenons such as movies, music, celebrities, and everything in between!

Comic Books

Comic books are probably the perfect collectible because they can actually be used and enjoyed as opposed to be preserved on a wall to be admired. However, if maximizing value is a goal of yours when collecting comic books, reading them regularly may not a great idea. Instead, store them properly to make sure the condition of them stays as perfect as possible.

>h2>Art

Art is one of the most well-known types of collectibles, commonly viewed as a high-class collectible category. The great thing about art is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so unless you’re most concerned about appreciating values of your art as an asset, art doesn’t need to be an expensive collectible. With that being said though, when art sells for $57 million, you know there’s a market and a ton of value around to grab.
